Lack of rain again

The horses are well but we have had very few runners due to the drought like conditions and the firm ground.  Courses water around the country but some find this easier than others and are more efficient at doing it.  Also, with hose pipe bans and water shortages rife, it is not always easy to get a license to extract water from bore holes and rivers.  Courses with reservoirs are the more fortunate ones.

It is tempting to run horses, especially when they are fit and healthy but it is risky at the moment and many trainers have found that horses they’ve run have sustained leg injuries in their races.

Calgary Bay is still on course for the Grand National on April 14th.  He goes well on good ground and looks superb.  Dominic Elsworth will ride him.
