Happy New Year!

A Happy New Year to you all.  It has been an eventful weekend!  Glens Boy was robbed of victory at Warwick on Saturday 31st December.  Timmy Murphy had given him a peach of a ride and he’d jumped for fun only to be confronted by a riderless horse head on just before the winning post.  Not surprisingly he put the brakes on to avoid it and lost the race by a head in a photo finish.  Cruel luck!  However, on New Year’s Day, Calgary Bay was superb and captured the feature Chase at Cheltenham, the Victor Chandler Handicap Chase Grade 3.  He jumped really well with Dominic Elsworth and won with his ears pricked.  It was very exciting and a welcome tonic after a long string of seconds.  The horses are happy and well at the moment.  We have quite a few to run during the week.  Somersby has come out of the King George VI Chase in great shape.  He will probably be aimed at the Ryanair Chase at the Festival in March but will have a break now.  He and Calgary deserve a week or two on the easy list and some time out in the paddock. P.S. An today Silver Roque has won too!
