Hen and Terry

The yard is a lot more upbeat now that the ground is drying up and we’ve had less rain.  Our horses are not heavy ground types as was illustrated on Thursday by two good runs at Ludlow on the better ground.  Gortenbuie at 25/1 ran a very nice race to be 2nd in his first handicap hurdle – he is a real future chaser in the making, and Seventh Hussar ran on well to be 5th in the bumper, a promising run.

Somersby is doing well in his preparation for the Champion Chase at Cheltenham and Calgary Bay is doing a steady build up for the Grand National.  We are pleased with both of them.  This weekend we run 3 on Sunday at Huntingdon.  Two novices in the 2 ½ mile Novice hurdle.  Airdrie and Loch Ba who will be having their “third” hurdle runs and should get handicapped afterwards, plus Bertenbar in a fairly competitive 2 ½ mile handicap chase.

Not many runners next week, until the weekend, but we are pleased with the horses and the way they are going.  Most of next weeks racing is up North!
