Preparing for the Autumn
We have been very busy over the past month at West Lockinge Farm preparing a number of NH horses for the Autumn/Winter Season. They are in excellent shape and look superb. We have also had several horses here for jumping tuition alone – something we love and find most rewarding.
The chase fences and hurdles are being re: vamped at present. More birch and more green spruce is being added to the existing obstacles. Bob, in our yard, is becoming an expert with the “stuffing”, and is enjoying his new task so much that I worry he will give up his yard job.
Yogi Breisner returns here next Monday (16th September) for another couple of clinics. He is taking 2 hourly sessions. The spaces were quickly filled and we have a waiting list.
The Connemara ponies are well and the mares and foals have been running out on fresh pastures about ½ mile from the farmhouse. We have several foals to sell at weaning (1st week of October). They are lovely ponies and definite top class show standard.
Last Sunday I judged the BSPS Gold Cup working hunter pony finals at the Burghley Horse Trials. The standard was extremely high and there were some lovely ponies. Next weekend, I am judging the Retrained Racehorse Class at Henley Show. I have to get stand in nurses for Terry when I’m away as he still cannot stand or walk. Fortunately, he likes the helpers and they seem to understand his humour!
Plenty more spaces here for horses needing extra schooling. Excellent facilities and no extra to use all the jumps/gallops etc. A lot of Event horses have been turning up to gallop as it is! Just ring 07860 110153.
