Success for Knight and Channon
A very good day at Kempton on Monday. Loch Ba won the 3 mile chase under Dominic Elsworth, in convincing style. We have always held the horse in high esteem but he had major problems at the end of last year with pulled hamstring muscles. Simon Thomas has done a great job on him with his muscle damage treatment, and Annabel Scrimgeour has worked hard on the horse to get him to ‘use’ himself from behind. All said, Mick Channon had the horse in great shape for his first race of the season and he looked fantastic. I expect the handicapper will raise him quite a bit but he’s a big strong individual so hopefully he will be able to carry weight.
Horses from West Ilsley Stables (Mick’s yard) – are running great. Long may it last! We have several horses for sale “off the flat” if anybody is interested in buying one or in joining a small syndicate. See “Horses For Sale”.
One of Mick’s ex flat horses, McVicar, whom we schooled here and I highly recommended has already won 2 Juvenile hurdles for Alan King in convincing fashion. He looks good.
Airdrie goes to Ascot Sales on Thursday to dissolve a partnership. He won’t make much money but could be a real bargain for 2013 Point to Points/Novice Chases.
Horses schooled at West Lockinge did really well last week., and there were 3 good winners – Balbriggan, McVicar and Benny the Swinger. All jumped superbly.
Watch this space for the next Channon runners that have been schooled at West Lockinge Farm. Also see our new page Knight/Channon – where you can click on the names of the horses trained by both Hen and Mick and see entries and form.
